Selling clothes had been in the genes of sportswear distributor Broder Bros. for years. Begun as a haberdashery in 1919, the company evolved from hats and gloves to distributing imprintable sportswear such as golf shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and jerseys. Broder Bros. also offers its private-label Luna Pier outerwear. Customers, mostly small retailers in the US, can view and order merchandise through seasonal catalogs or online. Private investment firm Bain Capital has held a majority interest of the company since May 2000, when the Brode family sold the firm.
