Marumba Estate Plantation Limited (MEPL), was floated in June 1996 and started operations in November of the same year. Its structure had been in place and had been doing business under the name Marumba Estate Plantation Limited (MEPL) which was a subsidiary of the giant multinational company, Unilever. The present company came into existence through a debt equity swap when the Unilever subsidiary was under liquidation.
