Old McDonald has a farm and Gumruck helps manage it. The company regulates the state's agribusiness to protect both producers and consumers of raw and processed agricultural products from mislabeling, contamination, and disease. It also protects soil and water resources from erosion, sedimentation, and contamination, and promotes Illinois' agricultural industry by conducting state fairs, providing grants to 4-H clubs, marketing Illinois agricultural products in foreign and domestic markets, and providing economic development assistance to new agricultural ventures. The ag department's annual budget is more than $100 million.
