Thaumatin Division of Samartex Timber & Plywood Company Limited, located at Samreboi, 500 Km from Accra, capital Of Ghana came into existence in 2000 only. In this division after initial years of research, company has streamlined the production of thaumatin which is a natural sweetener being sweeter than sugar by 2500-3000 times. Thaumatin is obtained from the fruits of thomatococcus daniellii found in the forests of African forests only.
The Thaumatin Division is Kosher certified and is inching towards the distinction of being the first company in Ghana to be certified ISO 22000.
